
Japanese-style beef salad
Steak doesn't have to be high-calorie. This Japanese-style beef salad is full of fresh, zesty Asian-inspired flavours, is ready in 20 minutes and comes in at under 250 calories. It tastes so good, you'll forget you're being virtuous
- 250g rump or sirloin steaktrimmed of all fat
- for frying oil
- 8 radishessliced
- 2 heads baby gem lettuce
DRESSING
- 1 small carrotgrated
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 shallotfinely chopped
- 1 tbsp root gingergrated

Method
step 1
Brush the steak with 1 tsp oil and season. Heat a frying or griddle pan until very hot then sear the steak for 2 minutes each side. Rest for 5 minutes and thinly slice.

Mix the dressing ingredients together. Arrange the steak and baby gem on two plates, pour over the dressing and scatter with radishes.
