Best dark chocolate Easter egg
Winner: Moser Roth dark chocolate lovers duo egg, £7.99 (330g), Aldi
This rich and fruity dark chocolate egg tastes really high-quality – it’s nice and thick, with a great snap. We love the addition of crunchy cocoa nibs and salt.
Highly commended: Extra Special the mint one – dark chocolate egg, £5 (180g), ASDA
If you’re a fan of mint chocolate, this egg has got it just right – the dark chocolate is smooth and thin with great snap, while the mint flavour is well-balanced and not overpowering.
Best milk chocolate Easter egg
Winner: Moser Roth milk chocolate lovers duo egg, £7.99 (330g), Aldi
Smooth, sweet and creamy milk chocolate flecked with crunchy flakes of caramel and sea salt, this is a real crowd-pleaser.
Highly commended: The Best Belgian milk chocolate and caramel egg, £5 (165g), Morrisons
We loved the silky smooth mouth feel of this Belgian milk chocolate egg which is embedded with crunchy biscuit pieces to cut through the sweetness.
Best white chocolate Easter egg
Winner: Moser Roth white chocolate lovers duo egg, £7.99 (330g), Aldi
A resounding winner, half of this dual egg is made from deliciously salty, caramelised white chocolate with crunchy feuilletine pieces, while the other half pairs sweet and creamy Belgian white chocolate with forest fruits.

Highly commended: M&S Collection extra thick white and blonde chocolate egg, £12 (500g), Ocado
This simple egg is another blend of classic white chocolate and a deeper, caramelised white chocolate. We love the silky smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture and rich caramel notes.
Best luxury chocolate Easter egg
Winner: M&S fruit & nut milk chocolate lattice egg, £15 (405g), Ocado
This beautiful milk chocolate egg really nails the luxury feel with its ornate lattice design and high quality-tasting chocolate. Super smooth and creamy, it’s packed full of different fruit and nuts, including hazelnuts, almonds and golden raisins.
Highly commended: Cocoa & Co Beehive Egg, £10 (220g), Sainsbury’s
This classic-tasting milk chocolate egg has a great balance of cocoa flavour and sweetness without being overly sweet, meaning it’s incredibly moreish. Although not as luxurious in its appearance as our winning egg, we like the simple, honeycomb design.
Best vegan Easter egg
Winner: M&S EggPlant Kitchen £6 (135g), Ocado
This is a lovely, deep and fruity-tasting dark chocolate with a silky-smooth mouthfeel and rich cocoa flavour. Plus, it’s shaped like an aubergine – what’s not to love?
How we chose the winners
The olive team chose nine categories having researched which products you, our readers, would be most likely to buy this Easter. We invited all the big supermarkets to select the products they wanted to nominate (just one entry per category, so they had to choose carefully). Our expert panel of judges blind-tasted them, rating each on taste, texture and appearance. We then awarded winner and highly commended accolades to our favourites.
